CEO -
What can you say about CEO? He runs his own business, runs a record pool, handles college promotions, DJs and has time to be a husband.
His beginnings start in a small town in Missouri born and bred in farm country. His early music renderings were that of country, pop, and classic rock. That all changed in 1989 when he heard “He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper” by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. He was introduced to an entirely new art form known as hip-hop and he hasn’t been the same since. He proceeded to grab onto whatever hip-hop he could find. In 1993 he discovered “The Basement” a college hip-hop show. He then became fascinated with the east coast. He was already a fan of NWA, Dr Dre, 2pac and Snoop Doggy Dogg; the East Coast was a whole new sound to him. From there he never knew the names, but he loved the songs. A graf artist named Wreckshop schooled him on the finer parts of hip-hop, such as the four elements. Wreckshop introduced him to a whole new world turning him onto Common, De La Soul, Nas, Organized Konfusion, Main Source…the list goes on. Shortly after meeting up with Wreckshop in 1997, the underground scene was blowing up. With the ease of the internet, CEO really started to do his research, started going back and learning and educating himself on the older groups while still staying up with the “underground”.
In January of 2001 he met Vinyl Richy and DJ Episode; they formed Late Night Productions, Inc. They too schooled the young CEO, on the fine art of DJing, sampling and producing. DJing has become part of who CEO is and as his collection grows so does his thirst for knowledge of the game.
Springfield, MO
In 2002 it was time to take it from the clubs to the airwaves. He obtained his first radio show “Late Night Radio” on KDRU the local college station. The show displayed his every growing DJ skills as well as the independent and classic hip-hop he loved. Though the show was short lived CEO learned a lot about radio and in May 2003 pioneered the first in station mixshow for local CHR station KOMG. While at KOMG his networking got him on other stations including WZCQ, KKSS, and WFXE to name a few. Though his contacts he along with DJ Episode formed the Late Night Record Pool in September of 2003 and Late Night Promotions that December. KOMG flipped formats in February of 2005 but CEO had found a new love with radio and wanted to continue to pursue that avenue. He joined the Sirius Wax 42 team in June of 2005 and began working with Syndication Company ZeoRadio in October of 2005. Though both Sirius and Zeo have gone belly up he remained focused. WKPO came calling in October of 2006. Along side DJ Triple XXX CEO rocked every Friday Night on WKPO until it recently flipped in January of 2006. Shortly after the flip he acquired the Friday Night slot at KBDS (Bakersfield, CA) alongside DJ Episode and DJ Bri-G. The “Friday Night Street Sweep” has been making it’s mark since its inception and continues to go up in the ratings. Outside of radio, CEO is also reviews/interview editor for the best damn hip-hop site period, www.hiphopsite.com. He also stays busy on the club scene with Kai on Saturdays and soon Springfield’s newest hotspot Jewel.
